Love your feet. Wear good shoes, which fit well. If you are likely to bump or accidentally hurt your feet, make sure your shoes are sturdy. Attend to all nicks and scratches straight away so that no infection sets in. During your sporting activities or exercise routine, take care of your feet.
There are very attractive shoes for all ages. Brands like Fitflop, Dr Scholl, Hush Puppies and Pavers (just to name a few) are good for the feet; they are comfortable, fashionable and protective.
When the bones in the foot weaken, they may fracture and the foot may change shape.
Charcot foot is a very serious condition that can lead to severe deformity, disability, and even amputation. Because of its seriousness, it is important that patients with diabetes take preventive measures and seek immediate care if signs or symptoms appear.
Examine your feet everyday. Feel the temperature of the foot, check for redness or swelling, pain or lack of sensation. If any of these symptoms occur seek medical assistance. Most importantly, keep your blood sugar levels under control. This will keep you as healthy as you can be.
