The main signs to look out for in case of diabetes are:
Increased thirst (polydipsia)
Increased urination (polyuria)
Increased appetite (polydipsia)
Weight loss despite an increased appetite and
Blurred vision (could be onset of cataract caused by the effects of increased glucose levels on the lens of the eyes)
Cuts/bruises that are slow to heal
Dry mouth and itchy skin (caused by lack of moisture in the body due to excess urination)
These symptoms are the result of hyperglycemia (rise in the blood sugar) as those sugars are not being used as fuel by the body and stagnate in the blood stream.
Type 2 diabetics also have the same symptoms.
